I love it when the mitzvah kid also comes up with ideas for his portraits -notice how I said his, they aren’t mine. In Jesse’s case he really thought it would be a neat idea to have him hold up the ner tamid (the eternal light that hangs over the Torah’s ark).
I took a look: The ner tamid is small, it is far away, it is many feet above where Jesse is standing.
“No problem.”
As for that slouching picture, Jesse is an excellent sloucher and clearly is capable of contorting his body into all kinds of seemingly uncomfortable positions at the drop of a hat so I needed to illustrate that in some way while maintaining the dignity of the sanctuary and occasion.
Jesse, and his family, were great to work with. Enjoy these few portraits and check back for his party photos shortly: Jesse’s Party.
