I’m not sure how many bar mitzvah kids connect their d’var torah with pokemon but Evan’s d’var torah at his havdalah service at
Temple Oheb Shalom did just that. Evan read bamidbar, where the Israelites are commanded to perform a census. Not exactly riveting material but Evan did a phenomenal job relating it to role-playing games and the need for both an offense and defense. Evan’s love of games was obvious throughout his mitzvah: from the pac-man kippot to costumes at the photo booth and his table decorations.
Mike on the Mic did such a great job that I think there were as many adults involved with the party as kids. We all know how important the DJ is to a mitzvah party and
